Amy Hardesty - IndySHRM President It’s hard to believe it is already August and kids are heading back to school. For most kids (and maybe parents), this is a pretty exciting time, shopping for new school clothes and school supplies, starting a new grade, seeing all of your school friends. While we are sad to see summer come to an end, we know that a quality education paves the way for a quality work life, so the investment in our education is an important one.

Earn Your SHRM Certification via the Pathway BEFORE State Conference

The Critical Need for Strategic HR

When asked why Indiana isn’t attracting and keeping enough IT top talent, Mike Langellier, CEO of TechPoint, told the audience at a recent public meeting that it’s “because too few organizations have a strategic HR function.” This isn’t a problem unique to Indiana or IT, however; all organizations regardless of geography or industry need to have a strategic HR function. None of us can afford to “burn and churn” our people any more—there aren’t enough individuals with needed skills. Read More
