President's Pen

By Leigh Crick, SHRM-CP

Thankful!

I love this time of year! Giving thanks and taking the time to reflect and appreciate those we have around us, professionally and personally! It is also the season for year-end processes like open enrollment, year-end reviews, budget reviews and strategic planning. Your IndySHRM board is also working hard on our year-end processes; finalizing our board of directors slate and preparing for our 2018 Strategic Plan.

In the next few weeks, chapter members will receive by email the 2018 slate chosen by the nominating committee. Again, I want to extend a special thank you to those who volunteer for our board, committee support and who take an active role in making our chapter what it is today. I look forward to working with a great team of professionals the rest of the year and into 2018.

Our Board of Directors is also excited to have the opportunity to invite SHRM Field Services Director Central Nancy Conway, SHRM-SCP to lead our strategic planning. During this session, we will be assessing IndySHRM’s current strategic plan as well as formulating a new strategy and identifying the strategic objectives to achieve it.

I encourage you to take time and thank those around you who have had an impact on your life this year. I would like to personally thank our chapter members, sponsors, speakers and guests for making 2017 such a successful year.

Leigh

The SHRM Foundation is a values-based charity organization whose mission is to champion workforce and workplace transformation by providing research-based HR solutions for challenging inclusion issues facing current and potential employees, scholarships to educate and develop HR professionals to make change happen and opportunities for HR professionals to make a difference in their local communities. The SHRM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizational affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Please help IndySHRM support the SHRM Foundation by making a donation. Individuals who donate will receive an awesome t-shirt with the Foundation logo, INSHRM State Council logo, and a map of all the Indiana chapters on the back. We will be accepting donations at all IndySHRM programs.

It is our goal to be in one of the Top 25 Chapters for SHRM Foundation support in 2017. I know we can reach this goal together.
